- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Abbott Ephraim will face the appellate tribunal, along with 13 others for the infamous Vatopedi scandal.
Among the accused is also Ephraim's right hand man the monk Arsenios.
The council of appellate judges has ordered the trial, but seems to be letting Yannis Angelou, at the time an adviser to prime minister Karamanlis.
The accusations include a host of infractions including the crime of usurping authority at the expense of the state, through a series of scandalous land exchanges between the Greek state and the Vatopedi Monastery, on Mt. Athos.
