Kostas Koukodimos has tendered his resignation as deputy education minister with a letter to the prime minister.
Mr Koukodimos, who is also a member of parliament representing Pieria prefecture invoked personal reasons for his resignation.
“Through this letter of mine I wish to thank you warmly for your trust and appreciation and the exceptionally honorific proposal that I undertake the duties of deputy minister at the ministry of education and religious affairs. The reasons that force me to tender my resignation from the post of deputy education and religious affairs minister are purely personal,” noted Mr Koukodimos in his letter.
He states, in concluding, that he supports New Democracy and the prime minister personally as a deputy in his “tremendous effort to reform the country.”
Education minister Andreas Loverdos responded immediately through a message on his personal tweeter account in which he expressed his regret for Mr Koukodimos' resignation.
