Russian tourism agency bankrupts

The union of Greek tourism enterprises SETE is talking of a period of increased danger concerning Russian tourism bureaus going bankrupt, after the bankruptcy of Tour Operator Solvex.
Russian news agency interfax relayed a statement by Rostourism according to which tour operator Solvex Tour, in Saint Petersburg has stopped working, standing 9,000 of its clients abroad, mostly in Bulgaria and Greece.
First data indicates around 3,000 Solvex-tour clients stranded in Greece. The specific tour operator should not be mistaken for Solvex Travel based in Moscow, which functions regularly.
SETE reiterates that priority should be given to aiding Solvex clients in Greece until they can return to Greece. SETE also underscores that aid must be extended to companies suffering from these developments, and noted hopes that the Ukrainian crisis will soon be resolved, restoring along with a stabilization in EU-Russian relations the significant share the Greek tourist market that Russia represents and is expected to yield around 2.5 million tourist arrivals by 2021.
