The Greek Europa 2014 stamp got third place in the Stamp European Competition PostEurop. A total of 53 entries, this year competed under the common theme of "National Instruments".
The Greek stamp illustrates the historical continuity of the Cretan lyre, from the hands of Apollo -as depictedon an ancient vase kept in the museum of Delfoi- up to this day in the hands of contemporary lyra players.
Singled out for variations of bright colors, the historical tradition of depicting and musicality emerges, gaining friends among philatelistes from all over Europe, who voted in the online poll of PostEurop, and gave it this distinction.
The first place was taken by Serbia, while Turkey got second place. The results of the competition were announced at the general meeting of PostEurop in San Marino.
