Satirical Care Package for Finance Minister
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Citizens from Crete calling themselves "Group of Iraklion Sensitized Citizens" sent a "care package" to the mother of finance minister Yannis Stournaras.
The package was a satire on the minister's statement that he understood the plight of low pension earners, as his mother and mother-in-law live on a pension of 500 euros a month.
The package which contained snails and a recipe to cook them, legumes, raisins, candles, a flashlight, woolen socks, garlic, an overcoat, toilet paper, and thirteen euros, among other things.
The package was accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek letter in which the citizens noted that they understood the drama faced by the minister's relatives, and wishing him courage on the "difficult road you have set for all of us, without asking us," and asking forgiveness for any misunderstanding, which was due to "hunger."
