- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A veritable museum and armory was found in the possession of a 51 year old man in Pella, Imathia. Among items found by police were ancient coins, firearms, ammunition, blunt and edged weapons, and even animal bones.
Police confiscated shotguns, rifles, pistols, bayonets, tomahawks and axes, bows, crossbows, arrows and bolts, knuckle dusters, shurikens, bullets, shotgun shells, etc.
The man was arrested by Edessa police officers and charged with illegal possession of weapons, and breaches of the laws on possession of antiquities, and the protection of cultural heritage.
The man was arrested when he resisted a spot check, after which police searched his house after getting a warrant.
Among other items found by police was a fragment of an inscribed marble stele with a bas relief of a rider, a suitcase with 62 fossilized bone fragments, and 12 glass cases with 899 coins from ancient Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman times.
