The Financial and Economic Crime Unit of Athens, Greece (S.D.O.E.) is trying to uncover the obscure financial funders of the Golden Dawn Party. According to the Sunday edition of the Kathimerini Newspaper there was a groundbreaking conference on the matter at one of the suspect's office.
"Until now, we were aware of one clear supporter, the state, who had funded the party with 500,000 Euros. If we put forward 200,000 to 250,000 Euros from the salary holdings of the parliamentary members commanded by Mihaloliakos, the amount would increase to 750,000 Euros," an inside source of the investigations stated. He added that along with this amount, one has to estimate costs that can approach 2 to 3 million Euros. Golden Dawn members do not deny that they had proposals, and they admit to accepting small grants from businessmen of Athens and its suburbs.
Parliament will be in session on Wednesday to discuss the lifting of Parliamentary immunity for Golden Party members, Germenis, Iliopoulos, Boukouras, Panagiotaros, Alexopoulos, and Katsidiaris. According to sources, in addition to these parliamentary members, prosecution may also extend to other accomplices.
On Monday, the examining magistrate of Pireas will hear the defense of Golden Dawn member Roupakias, who is accused of directly being involved in the murder of artist Pavlos Fyssas.
