Samaras talks on phone with Chinese counterpart

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Wednesday had a telephone communication with his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.

Sources said that the Chinese prime minister expressed satisfaction over the amicable settlement reached between Piraeus Port Authority S.A. and Cosco that leads to additional investments of 230 million euros in the Port of Piraeus and the creation of 1,000 new jobs.

 
The Chinese prime minister repeated the Chinese side's intention to proceed with more investments, as well as, Cosco's participation in the privatization process.
 
A special emphasis was placed on the planning and development of transport networks that will ensure the rapid connection of the Port of Piraeus with eastern and central Europe via railway and road infrastructures in which China is ready to invest.
 
They also discussed other investment issues, including, the Greek privatizations' programme and the participation of Chinese companies in energy and construction sector projects. 
 
Prime Minister Samaras thanked his Chinese counterpart for China's continuous confidence and tangible support to Greece.
 
On his part, the Chinese prime minister referred to the close ties between the two countries and to their personal friendship.
