Severe weather paralyzes Ioannina

Characteristic are the images from the city center where snow has covered everything, giving the opportunity to young and old to enjoy a unique landscape.

In the highlands of Ioannina it snowed all day Monday, occasionally even strongly, bringing in over thirty snowblowers from other regions and cities to ensure the compatibility of the road network.

Machines of the Ioannina Municipality moved in different directions in order to address problems on the roads.

The bad weather, with severe snowfall is expected to continue in the coming hours.

Vast is the damage however caused to the Municipality of Dodona by the extreme weather events of recent days.

Apart from the damage caused to the entire road network, major problems arise for settlements as reported by epiruspost.gr.

After checks made by the technical services of the Municipality of Dodona in Local Community Vital, two houses were judged unfit and the owners have already been given care and hospitality at a hostel in Tyria.

A house in Pardalitsa is facing major problems, like many houses in the village of Ardosis. Indeed, in the same village for five houses the danger is imminent.

In the community of Bestia one agricultural unit and ancillary facilities were buried under tons of earth. There is absolutely nothing left and the image is that of absolute destruction.

The roads throughout the municipality have suffered enormous damage. There is no road without many problems ... From Tyria to Romanos traffic can only go through Katamachis as the other roads are impassable.

Besides landslides and collapses, whole sections of roads have subsided noted executives of the municipality, causing damage to the grid. Columns have fallen , but for the moment the weather does not allow the intervention teams to act. So many districts remain without power.
