The Greek privatisations that will go ahead

The Greek government pledged on Tuesday not to roll back privatisations that have already been completed and to “respect the process” in cases where the tender has been launched, opening the way for the completion of a series of major investments which had temporarily frozen.

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis sent a list of reforms to Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem, according to which the governmetn will only review privatisations that have not yet been launched “to improve the terms”.

The minister’s commitment means the licence to run 14 regional airports, the sale of Athens’ old Hellinikon airport, the sale of a large sea-side property in the area of Afandou in Rhodes and the concession for the country’s horse race betting licence will continue as planned.

The sale of majority stakes in Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) and Thessaloniki’s Port Authority (OLTH), which are in an advanced phase, will also go ahead.

The tender for the sale of power grid operator ADMIE, a subsidiary of public power utility PPC, has been launched. but is far from being completed.

Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis has stated he will not go through with the sale.
