Giant graffiti mars Athens Polytechnic

According to reports in Kathimerini, the appearance of the historic building of the Polytechnic on Stournari Street has been covered with a giant graffiti, covering almost the entire surface of the wall, which makes removing or cleaning it almost impossible.

The dean of the institution, Ioannis Golias, who refused to condemn the vandalism of the building, said the act shows a "deficit of education and culture, as this is a monument." He was quick to add that "I have much to condemn and do not want to get into this logic. No expression for, or against."

At the same time, he ascribed the incident to the objective difficulties of the institution which is not guarded. "I have no guards. Of the original 40 only three are left. We hired a few extra and received rebukes. Those we have, guard the interior. They have no visual contact with what is happening outside. I saw myself what happened but what do you want us to do? Should we pay money and then not have any to pay for electricity? I'm trying to put priorities. So, I could condemn what happened, but under the circumstances I can not do it, " said Mr. Golias.
