Greek - Egyptian military cooperation renewed
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The Military Cooperation Programme (SCP) for 2015, between Greece and Egypt was signed today at the General Staff by Brigadier General Vassilios Garbis, and on the side of Egypt, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Ragaa Rabie Khalil.
In fact it is a renewal of last year's (very successful) corresponding SCP, which among other things included two large inter-branch exercises, one in Greece (TAMS "Alexandroupolis") and one in Egypt (TAMS "Alexandria"), exchange of observers at military exercises, students in various schools of the armed forces, etc.
It is worth noting that the diplomatic and in this case military cooperation with Egypt and its Armed Forces are of strategic importance for Greece, as part of strengthening stability forces in the wider unstable region on the imaginary "box" formed by Greece – Cyprus - Israel - Egypt.
