The Deputy Executive Director and Representative of Greece to the IMF, Thanos Katsambas, presented, Wednesday, his resignation with effect from 1 June.
Mr. Katsambas had taken office in January 2012 during the government Papademos.
According to sources, the resignation of Mr. Katsamba is directly related to the recent trip of Yanis Varoufakis to Washington, in which the minister chose to be accompanied by Panagiotis Roumeliotis, former representative of Greece to the IMF.
Circles of the Finance Ministry reported that it is a "personal decision" by Mr. Katsambas.
