Half a Million Enterprises Owe Taxes

Within just one month, from the end of August to end-September, the number of corporations that have fallen behind on their taxes soared from close to 183,000 to over half a million, according to the data published by the Finance Ministry.
According to the press, most of the over 300,000 additional enterprises that failed to pay taxes entered special payment programs in the hope of settling their debts in 12 installments.
The total amount that corporations owe to the state comes to 39.3 billion euros, but only 647.69 million euros of that has been arranged for payment.
In terms of taxpayer delinquent debts, these numbered 2.8 million at the end of August,falling to 2.59 million at end-September, owing a total of 22.6 billion euros.
