New Democracy in crisis
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The inability and unwillingness shown by the four candidates leaders to sit at the same table and find a solution after the fiasco of intra-party leadrship elections on Sunday do not leave much room to the Fentral Election Committee (KEFE). One final effort to agree on a new election date by mid December is expected.
In fact, at New Dewmocracu HQ voices have been raised for changing KEFE members and new elections on 6 and 13 December. Indicative of thoughts is the statement of the head of IT for New Democracy Philipos Tavris, that "the elections may take place on the next or the Sunday after that."
With the divisive climate that exists now in the party, those who believe that KEFE may perhaps be the final opportunity to progress the procedures and not bring the party to a split, are many.
