The parallel programme will proceed as soon as some matters are clarified

"It goes without saying that the lenders are aware of issues regarding the financial cost" stated on Friday Economy Minister George Stathakis to SKAI TV asked about the retirement of the draft law on the so-called parallel programme.

However, he appeared optimistic that a happy medium will be found with the institutions.
"I think that some matters will be clarified and it will proceed smoothly" said Stathakis noting that the parallel programme has provisions that 'must proceed' for the support of the vulnerable group of the population.
The Economy minister reiterated the government's position that the discussion on the parallel programme did not 'freeze' but, due to the opposition parties retirement from parliament, will pass under normal procedures and not under emergency procedures.
Referring to the tough negotiation on the first evaluation, Stathakis estimated that the government will succeed a 'balanced and fair solution' for the social security and will fully protect the bad mortgage loans regarding the first residence.
Finally, asked if the lenders have accepted the total exclusion of the mortgage loans for the first residence, the minister said "we will discuss it with them" and noted that "we have achieved a lot".
