Greece’s creditors remain firm in their position regarding the new pension plan and fiscal measures. They met with minister Giorgos Katrougalos.
Minister for Social Security George Katrougalos held a lengthy meeting with the foreign representatives which lasted for almost three hours.
According to reports, the institutions raised objections to some of the provisions included in the social security reform package, and in particular on the increase in social security contributions by both employees and employers.
“The issues raised by the institutions are known to us, the climate was what we expected, it was a creative discussion which will continue tomorrow afternoon,” Katrougalos said.
Earlier, Minister of Finance Euclid Tsakalotos , who also met the lenders said that they did not open up their cards and they did not ask for a reduction in pensions.
Government spokeswoman Olga Gerovassili stressed the importance of completing the program review as soon as possible and reiterated that the government meets its commitments.
