Domestic terrorist jail break attempt by chopper foiled by pilot

The pilot of a hired helicopter battled with an unknown hijacking woman, who according to all indications was the wife of Nikos Maziotis.

The woman hired the chopper saying it would be used for land survey purposes and after flying to a remote location, the woman pulled a gun ordering the pilot to take her to the main prison in Korydallos, Athens, where some domestic terrorists are being held.

The pilot of the helicopter, a former officer of the Police aerial means service, with superhuman efforts and admirable composure, managed to land it seconds before crashing to the ground and dragging the woman and himself to death.

The pilot tried to disarm the woman who shot three times in the helicopter, as she struggled with him. Indeed, the pilot testified that he had put the autopilot and exchanged punches. According to the same information, the pilot reportedly attempted an emergency landing right next to the highway, in Kriekouki. Furthermore, he reportedly told police that just landed the helicopter, he persecuted the woman, but abandoned the effort because she was threatening him. However, she left behind evidence.

The gun came out that has been used in bloody armed robbery, attributed to Nikos Maziotis.

The officers of the Hellenic Police, based on the details of the operation that Pola Roupa tried to achieve, believe that it was an escape plan for 46 year old Nikos Maziotis, along with four others, perhaps because the helicopter was chosen because of such considerations. For this reason, investigations are being conducted in prisons to clarify the details and who is involved in the case.
