Tsipras Article Attacks European Neoliberalism
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
"Austerity is wreaking havoc, but the left can unite to build a better EuropeZealots for neoliberalism have created a humanitarian tragedy across the continent. It is our destiny to fight back," are the beginning phrases of an article penned by SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras in yesterday's Guardian.
The reason for the article is in the conclusion when Mr Tsipras notes he "will be standing for the presidency of the European commission on behalf of the European Left party, and that decision is motivated by our desire to reunite Europe and rebuild it on a democratic and progressive basis."
In the article the SYRIZA leader refers to the problems of unemployment, spending cuts, income loss, and notes that the debt is still rising despite austerity
As he notes this is a problem that is plaguing all of Europe and to stem this he notes that "Europe needs an anti-austerity and anti-recession front, a solidarity movement for its working people, north and south."
