Greek Rail Workers Announce Easter Strike
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
There will be no intercity train services in Greece from Holy Saturday until Easter Monday as employees of the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) have called a strike in response to the government’s plans to privatize the Greek railway operator TRAINOSE.
OSE trains, which run intercity train services, and the Proastiakos suburban railway will not run from 6 pm of Holy Saturday, April 30, until 10am of Easter Monday, May 2.
OSE workers are calling on the government to stop the privatization of TRAINOSE in fears about a monopoly developing in rail transport. They have requested for commuters to support their actions.
