Greek MPs approved last night the multi-bill containing a range of measures, paving the way for the Eurogroup to release more loans to Athens tomorrow.
A Euroworking group meeting is taking place today.
Syriza MP Vassiliki Katrivanou resigned from her sit, after she voted for the legislation “in principle” but against the articles regarding the privatization fund and the contingency mechanism. Giorgos Kyritsis will take her position.
According to the new multi-bill, as of June 1st, VAT rate will rise from 23 to 24 percent for several food items, restaurants and public transport tickets. VAT reductions will be abolished at 11 islands, while the special levy on gasoline, fuel and heating oil will rise. A 20 cents rise in bottled beer and a 13 cents per can will be imposed. A rise in coffee is also expected, that will range between 20 and 30 percent per kilo.
Increases in cigarette price, electronic cigarettes, a 10 percent rise in cable TV and 5 percent in telecommunications are also expected.
