Handelsblatt writes on homes without electricity

An article in German financial daily Handelsblatt, yesterday, deals with the issue of DEH cutting off power of households unable to pay their power bills. The article begins by citing the recent death of 13 year old Sara from CO inhalation.
The article speaks of the catastrophic consequences of harsh austerity and six years of crisis that have led to a decrease of 25% in GDP and income reduction by 38%.
Handelsblatt also notes that 3.8 million Greeks are living in poverty and that many families cannot afford electricity as rates have increased by almost 60% since 2007.
There are also references to cases of “illegal” re-attahment to the grid and the losses to DEH from unpaid bills.
