Seamen’s union strike suspended
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The seamen's union federation PNO decided to suspend its strike on Saturday morning. This means that all ships will operate normally.
"Reason has prevailed," Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroublis said in statements earlier in the day.
Ships laden with perishable goods have begun leaving Crete en masse carrying vegetables to mainland Greece.
One main reason for the suspension of the strike was the rioting by farmers on Crete, who almost boarded docked ships, and when they failed they burne down sjhipping line offices.
