Two strong earthquakes 6.4 and 5.1 on the Richter scale occurred in the Dodecanese and the Turkish coast.
The first information speaks of serious material damage to Kos and perhaps to other islands where the earthquake was felt
According to the first measurements of the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the first earthquake vibration was of magnitude 6.4, took place at 1:31 with the focus being submarine and located about 10 kilometers from Bodrum's Turkish port and a short distance from Kos.
However, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Institute, the strong vibration was 6.7 degrees on the Richter scale.
The second vibration followed seven minutes later and the epicenter was located a few kilometers north of Lesvos and a short distance from the Lipsi coast.
Up to now, there have been at least 5 other smaller seismic vibrations in the same range of 3.1 to 4.6 Richters.
According to local media there were some damage to many houses (broken glass, etc.), while the sea swelled over the harbor.
Continuous seismic activity has resulted in some panc among resident, with many abandoning homes, fearing a larger earthquake and several aftershocks
