Moscovici: We cannot stop "pedalling" towards reforms

Economic Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici issued a strict message that the third assessment is coming and that ... "pedalling [the bicyle]" - that is to say reforms - must continue to be implemented by Athens, where he is on a visit.

The European Commissioner has been in the Greek capital since Tuesday morning, where he has held a series of meetings with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

Exiting Maximos Maximos, in his statements to journalists, he again drew attention to the path Greece has before it to exit the Memoranda.

In particular, a journalist asked if "the road will be easier than before, before the project expires'" Moskovici replied: "The road has already been very difficult. It is clear that we will not ask during the rest of the program for new measures as hard as those needed to complete the second assessment. But we must not stop pedalling, we must continue with efforts, with reforms. The third assessment is about the implementation of the reforms already adopted, plus some reforms that can be selected. Others have already been done, but no one should believe that everything has been done, and so we have to be in a very serious, conscious, collective, planned approach to the rest of the program, but I am optimistic that we can do it, we have done much harder things. But do not relax too much. Let us get together, let's work together, and I think this is the spirit of Alexis Tsipras and finally the Greek authorities and Greek citizens can rely on the Commission to be there. "
