Government takes measures to protect notaries participating in red loan auctions
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The government promised, on Thursday, to safeguard the security and safety of notaries in order for auctioning of red loan collaterals to be possible, including the tightening the legislative framework against those who have proceeded to violence against them.
In particular, the Minister of Justice Stavros Kontonis, Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection Nikos Toskas and the Deputy Minister to Prime Minister Dimitris Liakos announced today that they are taking initiatives for the safety of notaries and ensuring the conduct of auctions during a large meeting that was held with the Board of Directors of the Notarial Association of Athens, Piraeus, Aegean and Dodecanese.
The issue came to the forefront after notaries stopped any such actions until the end of the year protesting violence against them, which triggered stern rebukes from institutional lenders at the Eurogroup last Monday.
