Another great distinction for Olympic gold medal winner Kostas Kenteris for his hotel in Mikro Papigo, in Zagorochoria.
The "Mikro Papigo 1700 Hotel & Spa", which Kenteris runs himself with his wife, was the ambassador of Greek Mountain Tourism at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2017.
The Kenterises luxury hotel was voted the Best Mountain Resort in Southern Europe.
At a glamorous ceremony held on December 2, 2017, at the Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz, Switzerland and covered by TV channel France24, more than 300,000 international travelers voted over a four-week period and chose the winners.
The prize was received by Elsa Exarchou - Kenteris, wife of the Olympic champion and hotel manager of Mikro Papigo 1700 Hotel & Spa.
The building, which today is considered one of the most luxurious destinations in Greece, belonged to his wife's family and was renovated in 2007 with money invested jointly by the couple, with stones that came from Ioannina, made by experienced craftsmen who came exclusively from Albania and Romania.
The "Small Papigo 1700 Hotel & Spa" consists of four buildings, open all year round and has 29 rooms and suites, a spa area with sauna, a Turkish bath and swimming pool.
The decoration is impressive, with exquisite curved designer plastic chairs, glass tables, bamboo details bearing the signatures of the most famous designers from abroad.
