Lesvos island decongestion plan in full swing

Lesvos island decongestion plan is in full progress. 408 persons have left the island in the last 24 hours.
152 refugees and migrants left on Friday evening for the port of Piraeus while another 256 left with the ferry “Nisos Samos” on Saturday for the port of Heraklio, Crete.
According to sources, a large number of migrants and refugees, all members of vulnerable groups, are expected to leave Lesvos on Sunday and in the following days. The same sources said that the plan foresees approximately 3,500 migrants and refugees to be on Lesvos by the end of December in order to be hosted safely in the existing hosting centers.
The Migration Ministry said that on Thursday 8,322 migrants and refugees were hosted on Lesvos.
