A collision between an intercity bus and a truck has resulted in two female passengers killed and at least 12 persons injured.
The crash took place a little before 4 in the afternoon, on the Athens – Thessaloniki highway, about two kilometers before the Malgara toll station on the lane towards Thessaloniki.
The bus from the Aetoloakarnania bus service, carrying 25 passengers, crashed into the back of a truck bearing Turkish licence plates that was parked on the right road shoulder without alarm lights and without a preceding reflective triangle. The Turkish driver was arrested.
Eight ambulances rushed to the scene to carry injured persons to Thessaloniki hospitals, while police stopped traffic towards Thessaloniki, until the road was cleared
