A drunken Turkish citizen crossed the border illegally, at dawn, at Kastanies, Evros, raising the alarm among military and police units in the area.
Specifically, as thrakinea.gr website writes, the Turkish citizen of Kurdish descent, according to his statement, began to run from the Turkish customs to the Greek border. The Turks tried to stop him, but he did not halt, nor even when Turkish soldiers fired warning shots in the air. Even when he crossed over to Greek territory, he continued to run. At some point he stopped and feeling safe, he turned himself over to the police officers who were on duty at Kastanies.
There wqas immediate mobilization, as it was not initially known what had happened.
The Turk, who was immediately removed from the customs office, who reportedly had consumed a quantity of alcohol declared his Kurdish ethnicity, and claimed the city of Adana as a permanent resident. A passport was found on him, but he did not have a visa. The information indicates that he is a refrigeration technician by trade while his age is not known, but press reports claim he is around 40.
