The long history, the warm hospitality, the interesting gastronomy, as well as the safety in the country, were some of the key elements that US travel agents and Tour Operators highlighted as Greece’s comparative advantages at the Athens ASTA Destination Expo, during their visit in the Greek capital for the Expo.
On Saturday, April 14, the US representatives were taken on a guided tour of the historic centre of Athens (Acropolis, Monastiraki, Plaka) and Sounio while they were also “exposed” to the gastronomic delights of the city as they tasted local food and drinks.
On Sunday, the official launch of the EXPO at the Herod Atticus Conservatory was imposing due to space, and many of the American visitors were touched by listening to the voice of soprano Anastasia Zanni, who sang their national anthem. Later they were taken on a tour of the Acropolis Museum.
The day ended with dinner at Zappeion’s colonnade, where girls were dressed in traditional costumes from various parts of Greece.
