Turkish media riled up over Bouboulina's honorary title
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Panos Kammenos' decision to honor the heroine of the Revolution of 1821, Laskarina Bouboulina, did not go unnoticed by the Turkish press.
The decision was the target of the Turkish newspaper "Vatan", which speaks of a provocation, by Nikos (sic) Kammenos, having confused the name of the Greek Minister of Defense.
The subject is on the front page of the Turkish newspaper entitled "Provgocations through an admiral", along with the image of the Greek heroine. Indeed, in the article the author states that "she was an enemy of the Turks". It obviously escapes the author that apart from the second world war all other Greek conflicts involved the Turks as the enemy!
It should be noted that the decision of Panos Kammenos, Minister of National Defense, includede awarding Laskarina Bouboulina, the rank of honorary Vice-Admiral, the War Cross First Class and the Medal of Excellency.
