Mike Giannaris up for New York Attorney General
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Former New York State Senator, Mike Giannaris, is one possible replacement for Eric Schneiderman for the post of New York Attorney General. Schneiderman resigned after the disclosure of charges against him for physical abuse of four women he had relationships with.
In fact, Greek Cypriot circles close to Mr. Yianaris reported a few months ago that his purpose was, in any case, to claim this position after his term in the State Senate. Already, "Politico" and "New York Daily News" have mentioned the name of Mr. Giannaris, while other sources claim that funding for his campaign has started since January, with the amount reaching, until this moment, $ 2.17 million.
For his part, Schneiderman , although he accepted the request of Governor Andrew Quomo to resign, still denies accusations. Besides, he declared himself a supporter of women's demands and a devotee of the Internet-social media movement #MeToo.
“While these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office’s work at this critical time. I therefore resign my office, effective at the close of business on May 8, 2018.”
