Members of NGOs are converting buildings in Lesvos into refugee and immigrant accommodation facilities, without any formal information to any competent body.
Thus, after the arbitrary creation of new refugee structures in the central and the northern parts of the island, pressure on the town of Mytilene and tourist areas is increasing.
According to newspaper Ethnos, the deputy mayor of the island, Giorgos Katsanos, told the newspaper that "wherever they want, they set up tents and put people in. Unfortunately, there is no social cohesion on the island. "
Indeed, according to lesvospost, owner of a well-known site in the Larsos region (Klitsch Evergetoula-Keramies), reported that in recent days it has been illegally turned into an informal Hot Spot, he said complaining to the site
The owner of the space also has a copy of the lease, according to which they have rented two properties, covering 227.35 sq.m. each as a warehouse (the one with power supply), for the period from 1/8/2017 to 1/3/2018.
According to the owner, the NGO refuses to leave the premises, although the lease has expired three months, but has not been renewed and despite the owner's admonitions to free the site.
