With an unbelievable claim, the two women who were arrested for causing damage to museums have attempted to explain their recent actions.
"We poured oil and myrrh because the Bible says it is miraculous," the two Roma of Bulgarian citizenship claimed to the police, according to AMNA. The two women were arrested on Sundayat the National Historical Museum, in the Old Parliament building, with the ... miraculous oil in hand. The police were looking into damage caused to exhibits at the Benaki Museum and the Byzantine Museum.
The guard of the National Museum of History recognized one of the two on Sunday morning from photographs the police had distributed to the museums and archaeological sites and alerted the authorities.
By the time the police arrived, they were touching one of the exhibits and holding a bottle of oil, but they did not get to use it. The two women are detained in Athens Security and will be brought to the prosecutor on Monday.
