Former SYRIZA minister attacks government over state broadcaster

former minister and member of SYRIZA, Nikos Filis unleashed barbs against the government concerning the operation of public broadcaster ERT.
"Some governmental choices, in my opinion, raise issues. When a minister has been running for years his area of responsibility, creating a false impression of what is Left and what is democratic, it is not a personal choice, it is a government choice," Filis said in an interview with newpost.gr and rushed to clarify what he meant.
"I do not want to mince my words. ERT's image looks more and more like ERT before the "black" [meaning before the ND government shut down ERT in 2014]. ERT does not operate as it should for a public television. ERT is a channel that has an alternate management."
Continuing his attack against ERT, Nikos Filis added that "it is ruled by the old guild regime, a regime of self-interest", stating that "politically what is produced is not a quality product. Nor does it offer comprehensible and in-depth information."
Indeed, he left clear innuendos against the competent minister, Nikos Pappas: "The fact that private channels are generally worse does not give ERT an alibi to compete against lack of quality. I recognize that it was difficult to change the landscape of private television. There could be things to be done, but it was difficult. In the field of public broadcasting, the government's responsibility is exclusive."
