An improvised explosive device was placed outside the apartment house where deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos), Isidoros Dogiakos, resides in Vyronas. The device was located at dawn after a warning call to a website, and was taken to the Criminology Service laboratories.
As reported by competent police sources, the mechanism was placed in a casserole, inside a motorcycle carrying case, outside the apartment building of Adramythou Street.
Members of the Explosive Mechanism Neutralization Bureau (TEEM) managed to neutralize it without a controlled explosion, which facilitates the work of laboratory specialists.
It is believed that the bomb did not explode due to a mistake in the connection, but this will be clarified by laboratory research.
As far as the organization behind the action is concerned, there is no responsibility undertaken so far, nor did the unknown caller say anything.
However, according to the same sources, the methodology and the connection are similar to those used in other bombs in the past by the organization "Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire".
The warning phone call was made at 4 o'clock in the morning, according to which a bomb would be exploded in 20 minutes at 18 Adramytiou street, in Vyronas. "It's not a hoax," said the unknown person who phoned.
Police immediately mobilized, blocked the area in time, and informed the residents to stay in their homes, so as to avoid any danger.
After the stated time, the TEEM's bomb disposal unit identified the explosive mechanism and neutralized it, but the area remained blocked until the investigations of the Anti-Terrorism Service and the staff of the Criminal Investigation Division were completed.
