Turkish ship towed to Githio, after fire extinguished

Information about the occurrence of a fire in the engine room of the Turkish flagged ship "KILIC 1", which sailed in the marine area 8 nautical miles southeast of Cape Tainaron, was given by the Ministry of Shipping.
According to the Fire department, the fire was completely extinguished in the evening hours yesterday.
The vessel was towed by the tug "AGIOS NIKOLAOS" NP. 11939 and was taken at anchorage at Githio port.
The Port Authority of Gytheio, placed the Captain and the Engineer under arrest in the context of the legal procedure, as provided by Greek law, while the ship's movement was forbidden until the relevant classification society presented confirmation of seaworthiness.
