Thessaloniki bishop preaches that there are no other planets but earth

The Metropolitan (bishop) of Thessaloniki, Anthimos, said from the pulpit that there are no other planets in the universe, invoking a scientist who, as he said, called him and told him so.

The notion that there are no other planets in the universe, was espressed by the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Anthimos in his sermon, citing what a scientist told him.

"A man called me and said," Your holiness, I want to tell you something, if you can relay it, do not listen to what they say about what they saw, what they found and what they would master, things and people and incomprehensible things in the heavens , there is no other planet in the world, in the heavens  apart from this planet that we inhabit, the Earth," said Metropolitan Anthimos.

He also referred to an incident years before when peoplegathered in a capital city in Europe to see "surprising things" in the sky but "did not see anything".

As he later explained, he could not recall the name of the man who he spoke to, "the scientist," as he called him, but asked if he had heard the sermon to come meet him to talk about the subject.

"This man "was categorical". "Not I alone," he told me," but great scientists today do not speak publicly, to make an impression, they say (that) in the whole universe, all over the world, in what is there, nothing else is like the planet Earth,"  the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki said.
