Greek armed forces chief's statement causes rabid reactions in Turkey

The statement of the head of the National Defense General Staff Evangelos Apostolakis that "if the Turks land on a rocky islet, we will flatten it. And this is a red line that the government embraces," has caused rants and raves from Turkey.

In this context, the Turkish channels remembered the former secretary of the Ministry of National Defense in the Erdogan government, in 2009 and 2010, Umit Yalim who promoted his fictitious theories about 18 Greek islands "that should belong to Turkey".

"Thassos, Samothraki, Chios, Lesbos, Samos, Lipsi, Arki are our sovereignty, we have granted ... a right of use," said the former secretary of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior.

Indeed, Yalim has claimed that Crete belongs to Greece by ... 1/4 and that the islands, islets and rocky islets around Crete remained under Turkish domination! According to this whacky theory, Greece is entitled to 1/4 of the island, and the rest belongs to Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Serbia.

Indicative, however, are the reactions of the Turkish press to the statement of Apostolakis: "The most insolant statement - Scandalοus declaration - Indecorous announcement - They try our patience," Turkish newspapers say. However, as concerns the statements of the Greek Chief of Staff, there is no official reaction from the Turkish government so far.
