Kammenos threatens Papachristopoulos with expulsion from ANEL, again
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The meeting of the ANEL parliamentary group lasted less than an hour. Panos Kammenos then told Thanassis Papachristopoulos that if he did not deliver his seat tomorrow, he will be stricken off.
He even clarified that he would remove the MP before tomorrow's critical vote of the House, in which the North Macedonian accession protocol to NATO will be voted so that "he will not vote for relinquishing Macedonia".
The terms given by Panos Kammenos to Thanasis Papachristopoulos can not be interpreted differently but as another theatrical move by Panos Kammenos to persuade his voters that he is doing everything possible to prevent Skopje from joining NATO, as a consequence of the Prespa Agreement.
The move apparently offers nothing more than a communicative pirouette by the president of ANEL, since Thanasis Papachristopoulos has made it clear that he will resign after voting on the accession protocol, just as President of the House Nikos Voutsis asked him.
As soon as he resigns, if he resigns, Thanasis Papachristopoulos - he had stated that if he was removed he would not give up - his position will be occupied by the first runner-up of the list, which is none other than Deputy Foreign Minister Terrence Quick, who has aligned himself with SYRIZA. The information wants Mr Quick determined to maintain his seat and not deliver it as Panos Kammenos will of course ask him to, since the vote of the 6 "willing" MPs is necessary for the Tsipras government to stay in power.
Panos Kammenos on the subject of Terence Quick said: "You have to choose whether to be a member of the group of apostates, if at the suggestion of the prime minister and exchanging his vote for a post in the ministry will be in the pantheon of the government of apostates and if the prime minister continues what he did with Kokkalis and Kountouras. "
In other words, Panos Kammenos has pre-announced that he will delete Mr Quick if he does not surrender his seat.
