The 21-year-old Greek model Irene Melissaropoulou who was arrested in November 2017 at the airport carrying 2.52 kg of cocaine, is innocent according to the Hong Kong court’s decision.
According to her lawyer, Sakis Kehagioglou, the court’s decision to acquit the 21-year-old from the island Mytilene was unanimous.
During the trial, the young woman had denied the accusations claiming she had no idea of the drugs that the Hong Kong authorities found in her bag.
However, her acquittal “surprised” Mr. Kehagioglou, who stated that he is “happy to be proven wrong”.
