An unidentified individual attacked the home of Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis in the Athens district of Moschato in the early hours of Monday morning, lobbing a petrol bomb at his garage door at around 5:35 in the morning.
The assailant came up on foot and threw the bomb, which exploded on the pavement and blackened the door.
Police gave chase and took in four people for questioning soon afterward, one of whom was later released. The other three are being held for questioning to determine whether they are connected to the incident.
In a post on Facebook later on Monday, Polakis remained defiant and accused unnamed political opponents of being behind the attack against him, saying he was not cowed by the attack, adding: "To friends, relatives, comrades and acquaintances: Everything is plain sailing, we keep on!!"
A press release concerning the attack was later released by the SYRIZA party, which called it a "despicable action that is reminiscent of the criminal underworld."
"It is clear that neither SYRIZA nor the government are intimidated and that society stands united against such practices," the announcement added.
