Featured Guardian: If you want to eat well go to Milos

Almost everyday the foreign press praises the beauties of Greece, especially as we move towards the summer. This time, the British Guardian published an extensive article about Milos, celebrating its beauties, its food, and its raw materials, vegetables and cheeses.

Journalist Amanda Dardanis who visited the island discovered a flourishing gastronomic scene. Nearby Sifnos may be famous for its gastronomic pleasures, but Milos has become increasingly important in recent years for its good food, the reporter said.

The columnist also describes the beauty of Sarakinikos, which she says  looks like it has been processed through photoshop. milos-sarakiniko

She notes how much she liked "gourounopoulo" and "bouyiourdi" with tomatoes, feta and hot peppers.

As noted in the article, all over the island you find restaurants with character that cook using local and fresh raw materials.

She also highlights that in recent years the restaurants of Milos have become a bit more gourmet, with a more creative menu of Mediterranean cuisine. Even at the most expensive, however, you can economically choose mezedes and bulk wine, says the reporter. You don't hav to pay more than 10 euros per person and have a round of tsipouro.

As the reporter writes, another restaurant that stands out is  "Sirocco" at the beach of Paliohori where the food is baked in clay huts placed 40 cm below the sand, "Stratos" in Pollonia for fresh fish from the fishing boats and seafood dishes, the creative tavern "Medusa" in the picturesque Mandraki for ouzomedes, but also "Ergina" in the village of Tripiti with the wonderful view and the sunset. She also singled out "Astakas" in Klima for lunch wiith the backdrop of the colorful houses of the fishermen, as well as the "Kivotos ton Gefseon" (Ark of Flavors) store in Pollonia for watermelon pie and galaktoboureko.
