PAOK Thessaloniki win double after beating AEK in Cup Final
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
PAOK Thessaloniki clinched their 7th Greek Cup after defeating AEK Athens in the final at OAKA Stadium in Athens on Saturday night. It is the club’s first double, as PAOK were recently crowned Super League Champions for the season.
Forward Chuba Akpom was the sole scorer of the match after he managed to flick the ball over his head into the back of the AEK net following a cross by Pelkas in the 45+1’ minute.
The match was played before virtually empty stands in a 70,000 capacity stadium, apart from 1,500 invitations, as the Greek Alternate Minister of Sports George Vasiliadis effectively admitted through his decision the official state was unable to control hooligans and criminal elements.
