SYRIZA cadre makes sexist comments about MEP Kaili
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Reactions have been cause by the sexist comment of Avgi editor, Dimitris Christou, that Eva Kaili was elected to Europarliament "because she is a very beautiful woman."
Dimitris Christou was invited to the SKAI show "Atairiastoi" on the subject, of course, of the reasons that led SYRIZA to the painful defeat in the European elections. When the conversation touched on the success of Elena Kountoura and how the tens of thousands of votes she got, though coming from a different party and never having called herself left, Demetris Christou preferred not to comment on it and gave an explanation he obviously considers applies to all female candidates.
"Oh, okay now, and Mrs. Kaili was voted in as MEP because she is a very beautiful woman," the editor of "Avgi" told his interlocutors. And when the reactions to the sexist analysis began, for an interpretation that he would never attribute to a man, he started asking questions:
"She has a beauty (Eva: Eva Kaili), doesn't she? Is she not beautiful? "He asked persistently the other guests in the panel, who reacted to his sexist view. "What was her main characteristic?" Insisted Mr. Christos. And without minding the reactions, he upped his sexist analysis by noting: "Before going to Brussels why was she voted?"
So far, there has been no reaction from the official SYRIZA for the sexist analysis of Mr Christos or the party's Equality Committee. On the contrary, Eva Kaili commented on the attack, noting that it is another cheap personal attack on her from SYRIZA.
