New justice minister: Penal code articles will change immediately
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
"The return to the regularity of issues that disturbed public opinion" was announced by the new Minister of Justice, Kostas Tsiaras, who noted that the government will proceed immediately to change the articles of the Penal Code.
Speaking to ANT1, Mr. Tsiaras stressed the need for "independence of justice" and said Justice should not divide society.
"There has to be a lot of work," he said, noting that "we will carry out all of the pre-election promises", while asking for changes to the Penal Code, he replied that there are articles with which "we are totally opposed".
He noted that "it was not right to pass the Penal Code by the outgoing government two days before the elections" and clarified that "articles that we are opposed to will be changed immediately."
Regarding the issue of university asylum, he was content to say that he would proceed "in cooperation with the ministry of education".
"This will be dealt with directly," he said on the question of the leadership of the Justice, and did not answer the question of whether there would be a change before the 15th of August.
