Greece-China agree to double flights, boost connectivity

Deputy Infrastructure and Transport Minister Yiannis Kefalogiannis and Feng Zhenglin, head of China’s Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) signed the MoU, which covers the new route schedule, points of destination in both countries, designation of airlines, and the number of scheduled flights.

The deal also foresees the right of four intermediate points and four points beyond, the possibility of charter flights, and gives allows airlines on both sides to operate common code flights on routes between the two countries.

Kefalogiannis and Zhenglin also agreed to continue consultations towards the finalization of the new Air Services Agreement between the two countries.

The next round of contacts is scheduled for January 2020 in Beijing.

Earlier this month, Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis and Chinese Culture and Tourism Minister Luo Shugang also discussed the issue of increasing connectivity between the two countries on the sidelines of the 5th China – Central Eastern European Countries [17+1] Ministerial Tourism Forum held in Riga, Latvia.
