Greek Parliament to become more energy-efficient under auctioned plan

Featured Greek Parliament to become more energy-efficient under auctioned plan

A two-year plan to improve the energy efficiency of the Greek Parliament has been put on auction as of November 15, it was announced.

Once completed, the upgraded Parliament building will consume at least 30 pct less energy and emit 39 pct less carbon dioxide on an annual basis.

The plan is worth 2,794,020 euros, VAT inclusive, and the upgrade will include new pipes and air conditioning systems, replacement of 191 windows and doors, and the addition of an exterior insulation layer on the roof.

Parliament President Kostis Tassoulas said the Culture ministry will be supervising the works, as the building - a former palace - is a historical monument.
