Greeks overreact to coronavirus

The reaction of the Greeks to the phenomenon of the coronavirus surge in China and 18 other countries was all but calm.
According to Athanasios Tsakris, vice-rector of the Athens University and director of the Laboratory of Microbiology at the Medical School, the risk of introducing coronavirus in Greece is judged - with the data so far - low. Nevertheless, as Dionysis Eugenides, the president of the Thessaloniki Pharmaceutical Association (DFS), told the press, the public's panic over the coronavirus exceeded any expectation last week.
At the same time, however, the number of cases and deaths of the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) are steadily increasing, raising concern on the planet.
According to DFS President Dionysis Eugenides, last weekend, when the spread of the coronavirus began to accelerate, "a great panic arose in the public. The reaction was beyond any expectation. It is indicative that both masks and antiseptic preparations have sold out. "
Mr. Eugenides explained that possibly due to the correlated coronavirus with seasonal influenza "they disappeared at the same time from pharmacies along with the Tamiflu vaccine. It is obvious that people are concerned about what they hear and read. But proper awareness and calmness is required. "
It should be noted that according to the French Ministry of Health, that masks are not an adequate measure to put a brake on the spread of the coronavirus. In Greece, however, the competent authorities have been put on alert for any "coronavirus" invasion, and reference hospitals have already been established.
